Independent Restaurant category – sponsored by The Anaphylaxis Campaign

Judges comments - July/August 2017

'Great welcome and unphased by my need for gluten free food. It is a vegan pizzeria so already egg and milk/dairy free.'

'No separate gluten menu but most of the main menu has gluten free options. Their pasta is raw veggies so all GF and the baked dishes like lasagne use GF pasta sheets. The salads were both GF and all pizzas can come on a GF base but the burgers come without the bun which is disappointing. Only one gluten-free dessert – a tiramisu which was novel. Ice cream and sorbets available too.'

'The kitchen is open to the restaurant and so I could hear the chefs discuss my meal. They explained they use only GF flour for all the pizzas to prevent contamination and cooked them on separate trays, which I could see in the kitchen. Being able to see certainly gives added confidence.'

'It was good value for money. The pizzas come loaded, are a good size and the toppings are inventive. I felt really well looked after, especially by the chef.'
