Nota Bene. Three different judges visited three Strada outlets across the country. Inevitably, their experiences differed somewhat and the comments below are drawn from all three judges.


Judges comments - July/August 2017

'I had declared coeliac within online reservation and, on arrival, the server were very friendly and welcoming and able to demonstrate familiarity with coeliac without explanation from me.'

'Good menu options, although gluten free mostly. It was a shame that they didn't also offer pizza. We felt they were missing a trick compared to other chains.'

'Several gluten-free starters but sadly no gluten-free bread available to make the gluten-free garlic bread or bruschetta. Mains: broad selection of rice, gluten-free pasta dishes and salads dishes; no GF pizza options. Four 'naturally' gluten-free desserts, polenta cake, pannacotta, torroncino and ice cream but no desserts both gluten and milk free.'

'Many options without gluten do contain dairy but our waiter said that they could certainly find dishes for diners needing to avoid both.'

'We had a total of three servers but with 80% of the service being from one, and he was fantastic. I bombarded him over the course of the visit with questions and he was never anything less than careful, considerate and diligent.'

'We had one server seat us and provide menus and drinks, the manager then took our order and then someone else was hovering around nearby during our meal. My food was kept separate when it was brought to the table even though one of the other meals was also gluten free.'

'Baked goats cheese and mushroom - very tasty with lovely mixture of flavours. Gluten Free Burger and fries - they had a gluten free bun available to my son's delight even though it was not showing on the menu. The gf fries were very good as was the burger. Saltimbocca - slightly overdone, potatoes slightly dull but we had garlic kale side dish which was lovely. Polenta cake - needed the ice cream but had an interesting texture and flavour. Pannacotta - delicious but obviously not dairy free.'

'Considering the quantity and quality of food served on a busy Friday evening visit value for money was good, better than many places in London. I would certainly go back.'

'We felt it was really good value for money and we will be returning. The portions were huge and the taste and presentation was excellent.'
